Film Presentation:
În vreme ce profeţia activiştilor „cypherpunks” pare să devină o realitate în vremurile noastre, oamenii încep să se întrebe dacă revoluţia Internetului este un lucru bun sau un fenomen nefast. În încercarea de a prezenta obiectiv cele două laturi ale reţelei „deep web”, apar pe tapet problematici precum lupta pentru confidenţialitate, anonimitatea şi așa-numitele cripto-piețe. Interviuri cu cripto-anarhişti, utilizatori ai Darknet-ului şi hackeri dezvăluie ce se ascunde în spatele lumii Internetului pe care pretindem că o cunoaştem atât de bine.

Director's Bio-Filmography:
DUKI DROR este absolvent de film, teatru și studii clasice al UCLA. Regizează și produce documentare creative de 20 de ani. Filmele lui sunt povești de viață oamenilor și se concentrează pe teme precum identitate, dislocare și schimburi inter-culturale. În 2010, rețeaua PBS, care deține peste 100 de posturi TV pe tot teritoriul SUA, a difuzat, într-un serial special, 3 dintre filmele sale: My Fantasia, Raging Dove și The Journey of Vaan Nguyen. TZACHI SCHIFF a făcut regie, cercetare și producție pentru sute de documentare. A regizat numeroase documentare de lungmetrajm printre care MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE și LITTLE CITY, pentru televiziunea israelită. A realizat, în calitate de regizor și producător, sute de scurtmetraje pe o varietate de teme, de la criminalitatea cibernetică și muzica rock la patrimoniul cultural al Istraelului sau descoperiri ale științei.
Director's / Curator's Statement:
Down the Deep Dark Web is an invitation to enter a world that is unknown to most. this is a world of privacy extremists, crypto-anarchists, prophets of parallel states, hackers and government watchdogs. This world stands vis-a-vis the world of the internet where we witness the end of privacy as known to us. The goal of the film is to make the case for privacy and to call attention to the possibilities offered by the internet for establishing systems that are decentralized and are moving away from the ever watchful eyes of government and authority. The crypto-anarchists claim there should be a limit on how far into our lives governments and private corporations can intrude. This claim can not be dismissed by claiming that the crypto-anarchists they are all “crazies” as the claim is well founded. Hopefully, by the end of the film, the viewer will begin to question what, and who, is truly crazy in our increasingly interconnected world and, perhaps, take a peek inside the Internet’s hidden underbelly to decide for themselves.
