Director's Bio-Filmography:
After graduating from Faculty of Arts, with Diploma in The Art of Film and TV Directing, Bucharest, Ioana worked in the Romanian Public Television, directing, producing and writing various TV programmes, exploring different subjects in the arts field (theatre, music, photography) and history. During that time, her true passion for the documentary genre arose, as a natural, genuine continuation of her interest in seeking the mechanics of this world. While working in television as a director, she produced and directed a travel show in 25 episodes, which explored the Banat region, in western Romania, with its history, traditions, people, social aspects and local attractions. Later, while living in New Zealand, she developed a keen interest in the stories of immigrants, as a social, global, cultural phenomenon nowadays and also in the environmental issues.
In March 2012, she graduated, with Distinction, the MA documentary film course from London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. "The Marble Village" is the major project that she made during this course. It received the Best Short Film award at Open City Docs Fest 2012, London.
