Animalele par sa fi disparut din orase, la fel si legatura noastra cu ele, cu exceptia fenomenului modern al animalelor de casa. O privire mai atenta ne arata, insa, ca ele sunt inca aici, punand sub semnul intrebarii granitele traditionale dintre oras si sat, cultura si natura. Oamenii, institutiile si animalele coexista in moduri surprinzatoare si diferite, adesea neobservate. Atitudinea fata de animale este diversa iar mediul tot mai tehnologizat al orasului face aceste frontiere tot mai instabile.
