MASTERCLASS: ROMA STORIES
Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th OCTOBER 2012
ROMA STORIES - in romanian
Examining the representation of Roma people in documentary filmmaking, this masterclass will especially consider the different perspectives and the dominant approaches within this medium. Thus, the relevant selected fragments of some documentary films will oppose various points of view portrayed in the commercial documentary and the social/anthropological film, and will be followed by the commentaries of the producers, who will decipher the meanings, the stakes and the corresponding technical methods. The subsequent round table discussions will then try to synthesize and to bring into debate the meanings and the impact of different held views about the Roma people, their social issues and their culture.
