URBANISM TODAY IN ROMANIA, CHINA, VENEZUELA

Living in the city can be great; challenges and pleasure are very closely linked, in terms of space, time and human scale. And it’s the job of urban planners to create   sustainable environments for people to live, work and spend their leisure time. However, the city is a living body that reacts to political, economic, ecological and social stimuli, and sometimes it does so in unpredicted ways.

Astra Film Festival 2014 proposes a discussion on some of the most interesting urban issues starting from three documentaries: Ekopolis (urbanism in case of new Chinese towns), ÅžANTIER ÎN LUCRU – (urbanism in post-Communist cities in Romania), and Ruina (a spontaneously born vertical society in a failed high-rise building in Caracas).
